Kenya and Qatar Airways entered into an agreement that enables Qatar Airways to increase frequencies to Mombasa. Qatar Airways will be able to increase frequencies to Mombasa “by one flight a day” following an agreement signed between Qatar and Kenya on Monday 1, July 2019.
The agreement was signed by HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed al-Sulaiti and Kenyan Minister of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development James Macharia.
The agreement comes within the framework of boosting business, trade and investment opportunities between the two friendly countries, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said.
Mombasa is the principal Kenyan seaport and the second largest city in Kenya behind the capital city Nairobi with a major economic and touristic significance.
The two sides also agreed on signing a cooperation agreement before the end of this year between Hamad Port and Lamu Port, in addition to forming a joint working committee for enhancing all aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transportation and ports.
The signing ceremony was attended by Kenya’s ambassador to Qatar Paddy C Ahenda.
